Antarctica

John

I met John on a photography retreat, shortly after a local photo book company had gone into administration. He'd spent hours designing a book of his recent travels to Antarctica and when the company closed, his work was lost.

The vision

Whilst on the retreat, John learned that I offered photo book design as a service, and asked if I'd be able to re-create the design that he had previously worked on. He really wanted a photo book to re-live the memories of his amazing Antarctic adventure, but didn't want to re-create the design himself.

What mattered most

John had kept detailed notes on the design that he'd previously worked on, and it was important to him that this design was adhered to as closely as possible. Being a photographer, the quality of the book was also important to him.

What I created

John lives interstate, so mailed me a USB with his digital images which were sorted into chronological folders. Included in the package were printed PDFs of his previous design for me to follow. Knowing it was important to him to keep to his own design, I closely followed what he had done, but added my own touches here and there, where appropriate.

The outcome

The finished photo book was posted directly to John and he contacted me shortly afterwards to let me know how happy he was with the end product. He appreciated the touches that I had added in, and was so pleased to fnally have a tangible reminder of his Antactic adventure.
